On May 22, An Giang province and Phu Quoc special zone organized a large-scale coercive campaign, recovering more than 15,000 m2 of public land and defense land illegally occupied.
The focus of public attention and uproar recently was the large land area with an encroachment area of up to more than 15,690 m2. This land area was blatantly occupied by Mr. V.T. T, causing public outrage for a long time. Here, Mr. T dismantled the old state to plant trees and build a solid complex of works in the form of "villas". In the total occupied area, there are nearly 4,800 m2 of land managed by the State and more than 10,900 m2 of land managed by the Command of Naval Region 5.
Notably, Phu Quoc functional agencies have issued enforcement decisions many times, but due to the complexity of the case as well as the actual obstacles at the scene, previous enforcement phases have not been completely completed. This delay further makes public opinion yearn for a strong and thorough measure from the government to protect the sanctity of the land law.
Under strong pressure from the law and the determination of the functional forces of Phu Quoc special zone, right before the official enforcement order took effect, although Mr. T voluntarily dismantled and moved valuable belongings and assets out of the mansion overnight, he still did not voluntarily return the land to the state and Naval Region 5 for management. From there, local authorities and relevant units were forced to carry out enforcement immediately on the morning of May 22.

In parallel with the enforcement of Mr. T's household, the local government also implemented forced enforcement against 18 households in Phu Quoc special zone who had acts of encroachment and illegal construction with a total area of more than 7,840 m2. In addition, households were also forced to return illegal profits with a total amount of 20 million VND according to regulations.
