On July 20, Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee officially launched a launching ceremony to inspect and handle violations in the fields of land, construction order of road safety corridors, sea corridors and urban order.
The 90-day peak period of inspection and thorough handling of violations is considered a strategic shift with the spirit of Discipline - Responsibility - Determination - Efficiency, without forbidden zones, without exceptions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Le Quoc Toan - Vice Chairman of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone People's Committee (An Giang) - said that in the past time, the situation of encroachment on public land, forest land, unlicensed and illegal construction, and re-encroachment on traffic safety corridors and coastal protection corridors in Phu Quoc has still been complicated.
These violations not only cause public outrage but also seriously affect planning, the investment environment and the image of the coastal tourist city.
Since the time of merging and implementing local governments at 2 levels to date, the entire special zone has detected and handled 324 administrative violations. Of which, land sector accounts for 315 cases, minerals 6 cases. Notably, 2 serious cases have been transferred to prosecuting agencies for criminal prosecution. The total amount of administrative fines and remedial consequences collected for the budget reached over 32 billion VND; at the same time, the government has issued 83 decisions on strict enforcement.
Implementing Directive No. 13 of the Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee and Resolution No. 06 of the Party Committee of the special economic zone, Phu Quoc has established inter-sectoral inspection teams and officially launched the 90-day peak period. Not only stopping at on-paper instructions, specialized officials with legal knowledge and familiarity with the area have been assigned to directly set up checkpoints at the scene to detect early, handle strictly, without exception.
Phu Quoc Special Zone is determined to strongly shift from case-handling thinking to proactive local management; implement early detection - timely prevention - quick handling - publicity, transparency - not to re-offend. Requesting inspection teams, specialized departments, police forces and localities to get involved with the highest sense of responsibility. Must closely monitor the area, comprehensively review, promptly detect all violations right from the time they arise. Must handle them strictly, in accordance with the law, objectively, publicly, transparently; absolutely no forbidden zones, no exceptions.
In parallel with inspection and enforcement work, Phu Quoc also promotes the application of digital technology, completes the land database and digitizes the entire public land fund, technical corridor, and coastal corridor. Thanks to promoting mobilization and propaganda, there have been 138 cases of violations voluntarily complying with sanctioning decisions and remedying consequences.
During these 90-day peak days, the goal is not only to stop at being determined to restore land management order, construction order and urban order, but also to protect the people's trust, maintain the green color for the sea and islands and the sustainable development of Phu Quoc. The 90-day peak campaign will create an important premise to help Phu Quoc build a civilized urban appearance, transparent investment environment, ready to serve international-scale events, especially the APEC 2027 Summit.
