On October 29, the Provincial People's Committee issued a decision to administratively sanction a business for discharging waste exceeding standards into the natural environment.
According to the decision, the Provincial People's Committee fined Gia Nguyen UM Company Limited VND 248 million for discharging wastewater containing environmental parameters exceeding technical standards on waste by 10 times or more in the case of discharging wastewater volume of less than 05 m3/day (24 hours) into the natural environment.
The company was also forced to pay VND3.86 million for environmental sample analysis; take measures to remedy environmental pollution at the facility at 40-42 Tran Phu Street according to regulations and report the results.
Previously, a snail restaurant next to this business's facility was also fined by the Provincial People's Committee for similar behavior, with a fine of 310.5 million VND.
The cause is that from the Front Beach area, Vung Tau City, there is a foul-smelling wastewater coming out of a storm drain, discharged directly into the sea area. Upon receiving the information, the People's Committee of Vung Tau City and departments and offices took action to handle the situation. The Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police also inspected and worked with businesses operating opposite the drain.
Checking at the final discharge point, the authorities discovered opaque white wastewater with a characteristic foul odor of wastewater generated during the processing of food and drink... The authorities collected many wastewater samples for analysis; then evaluated and made a record with the violating facility.
