Responding to the "Operation 500 days and nights to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains", on July 20, the Military Command (CHQS) of Quang Tri province inspected and encouraged forces on duty in the Cau Nhi area, Nam Hai Lang commune, where 3 martyrs' remains have just been repatriated.
The working delegation led by Colonel Phan Thang - Commander of Quang Tri Provincial Military Command - together with Colonel Truong Viet Hai - Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command and leaders of specialized agencies directly inspected the scene, encouraged officers and soldiers of Team 584, Team 589, Political Department and forces participating in the search.
Previously, at the end of June 2026, the Provincial Military Command coordinated with the Ground-penetrating Radar Task Force under the Institute of Design, General Department of Logistics - Technology to survey the Cau Nhi area and detect unusual geological signals. After the verification workshop on July 10, the forces expanded the search scope.

By 6 pm on July 20, the task force had collected 3 sets of martyrs' remains located at a depth of 20-50cm, nearly 4m apart. The sets of remains contained bone fragments, tibia and teeth. Many artifacts were found such as tanks, shoe soles, belts, buttons, medicine bottles, gun straps, stun grenades, AK magazines, canteen bags and ink pen caps.
Currently, 3 martyrs' remains have been brought to Team 584 for care and incense according to regulations. In the coming time, functional agencies will take biological samples (if conditions are met) for DNA testing to identify the martyrs.
At the scene, Colonel Phan Thang praised the responsibility of the forces, and at the same time requested to continue to carefully review the area, expand the search scope based on historical documents, survey results and information from witnesses; strengthen coordination with localities, mobilize people to provide information, and ensure absolute safety in the process of performing tasks. Previously, the working delegation also offered incense and flowers to commemorate heroic martyrs at the Temple of Martyrs of Regiment 88, Division 308 in the Cau Nhi area.
