For example, a citizen in Bach Khoa, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi informed: "Yesterday, I had a snack at a sticky rice restaurant near the University of Science and Technology and just a few hours later, I encountered diarrhea. It is worth mentioning that all day long, I only ate at this restaurant, making me skeptical about the quality of food hygiene and safety here. To learn more, I consulted on the community pages of students of Hanoi University of Science and Technology - where this restaurant often serves. As a resident living and attached to the area, I cannot help but worry about the health of students - those who are of developmental age, studying and the future of the country. If the situation of food hygiene is not controlled, I am afraid that not only will their health be affected but it will also cause great concern for their families and society. Therefore, I respectfully request the People's Committee of the ward to coordinate with relevant agencies to quickly organize a team to inspect food hygiene and safety at the above-mentioned restaurants, as well as other food businesses in the area. Carefully assessing the quality of ingredients, processing process and hygiene conditions will help ensure a safe and healthy eating environment for the community, especially students.
Also on this application, the authorities responded that: "The People's Committee of the ward will send a team down to inspect".
This is a small example of people's concern about food hygiene in densely populated areas, especially in front of school gates.
Recently, the Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) issued Official Letter No. 532/ATTP-NDTT requesting the Hanoi Department of Health to coordinate with functional units to organize inspections and supervise compliance with food safety regulations for grilled meat, skewers, fast food... at food service businesses, street food, and food around schools.
According to the Food Safety Department, these shops, in addition to their convenience, also pose many potential risks to food safety due to poor storage and processing conditions, the use of ingredients of unknown origin, as well as the risk of microorganisms and toxic chemicals. To continue to strengthen food safety assurance, food poisoning prevention and control to protect consumer health, the Food Safety Department recommends that the Hanoi Department of Health proactively coordinate with functional units in the area to strengthen supervision and implement food safety control measures; organize inspection and supervision of compliance with regulations on food safety, strictly control the source of raw materials, food additives, fried oil, especially for grilled meat, skewers, fast food... at food service establishments, street food, and food around schools.
Strengthen inspection and strictly handle violations to restore safety in the use of food, especially health safety for students.
