Key project over 2,700 billion VND
On October 5, Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung chaired a meeting with departments, branches and localities related to the Quang Nam Province Integrated Adaptive Development project.
This is a trillion-dong project with main components: dredging the 60km-long Truong Giang River, ensuring the circulation of 100-ton ships; building 6 bridges across the Truong Giang River and a flood drainage project for Tam Ky City.
In addition, some businesses are researching investment in the Dam River urban area project (Tam Ky city) and upgrading Chu Lai airport (Nui Thanh district).
The project has a total investment of more than VND 2,722 billion, of which ODA loan from the World Bank is about VND 1,838 billion, counterpart capital is about VND 884.196 billion. The project implementation period is from 2022 - 2027.
The project's land use area is about 483 hectares, affecting 1,068 households due to land acquisition. Regarding the impact on aquaculture, there are about 7,122 households living along the river.
The project has been approved in principle for investment by the Prime Minister, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has approved the environmental impact assessment report.
Quang Nam provincial leaders assessed that this is a “key of the key” project that will revive the Truong Giang River, create a smooth traffic system; overcome flooding, and create momentum to promote inter-regional socio-economic development of Thang Binh - Duy Xuyen - Tam Ky...
Deployment in September 2025
With thousands of households located in the project's affected area, the Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee especially noted the need to propagate and mobilize people to agree to implement the project; focus on managing the current situation, not allowing illegal expansion and construction to wait for compensation...
"With the spirit that the lives of people affected by the project will be better, avoiding relocation and difficult lives" - Mr. Le Van Dung emphasized.
For the construction of bridges, it is necessary to ensure both technical and aesthetic aspects; the project must be beautiful, associated with urban development, tourism, etc.
According to Quang Nam leaders, this is a trillion-dollar project using ODA loans, so compensation and site clearance are extremely important. It is necessary to mobilize the entire political system to direct the project resolutely so that it can be implemented on schedule and improve the efficiency of capital use.
Strive to start the project in October 2025, to welcome the 23rd Quang Nam Provincial Party Congress.
The Quang Nam Province Traffic Construction Investment Management Board (investor) said it is racing to complete procedures and is expected to start construction of the first project in September 2025.
