On the afternoon of June 11, the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee announced that it had just issued an official dispatch on strengthening support for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in Kon Tum province when they return to work at the Quang Ngai Provincial Administrative Center after the two provinces merged.
To facilitate the work of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in Kon Tum province at the Quang Ngai Provincial Administrative Center, the Standing Committee of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee requested specialized agencies to advise and assist the Provincial Party Committee; the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and provincial socio-political organizations; public service units under the Provincial Party Committee to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies in Kon Tum province to determine the number of students who are children of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers under the Party bloc, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations that need to register to study at schools in the province after the merger.
This list will be sent to the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Committee for synthesis and reporting to the Provincial People's Committee Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee before June 20, 2025.
The Provincial People's Committee will also direct the Provincial People's Committee to request departments, branches and sectors to preside over and coordinate with relevant units of Kon Tum province to determine the number of students who are children of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of the State sector who need to study in Quang Ngai after the merger. This list will be sent to the Department of Home Affairs for synthesis, then submitted to the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial People's Committee before June 20.
Based on the above reports, the Provincial People's Committee will direct the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Education and Training to develop a plan to arrange facilities and schools as well as guide the procedures for transferring schools and enrolling students.
In addition, the Provincial People's Committee Party Committee also researched and directed the Provincial People's Committee and relevant agencies to consider establishing a permanent department as a unit providing information on housing and rental houses in the area, in order to proactively support and create favorable conditions for cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers.
Quang Ngai has an area of over 5,000 km2, including 13 districts and 170 communes, with a population of about 1.5 million people; the province has strengths in industry and sea and island tourism. Meanwhile, Kon Tum is nearly 10,000 km2 wide, including 9 districts and 102 communes, with a population of more than 600,000 people, bordering Laos and Cambodia.
According to the Resolution of the Central Government, the two provinces will be merged and named Quang Ngai, with the administrative center located in Quang Ngai City. With mountainous terrain, the distance between Kon Tum city and Quang Ngai city is currently about 200 km.
