In recent months, thousands of trucks carrying soil for key projects have been continuously passing through the communes of Hanh Minh, Hanh Thinh, and Cho Chua town in Nghia Hanh district, Quang Ngai province every day. The roads that trucks travel on are mostly narrow, crowded with traffic and people living along both sides.
More importantly, the new school year is about to start, the number of students participating in traffic will increase dramatically, but the pressure to ensure project progress can easily cause truck drivers to speed and drive recklessly, posing a high risk of traffic accidents, making many parents worried. From August 16 to August 27, in Nghia Hanh district, there were 2 deaths related to collisions with trucks carrying dirt.
Speaking to reporters, Ms. Luong Thi Ha (residing in Hanh Minh commune, Nghia Hanh district) indignantly said: “Trucks run day and night, racing each other, overtaking recklessly and causing accidents and traffic jams, seriously affecting people's lives, so everyone is scared. Students will soon go back to school, sharing the road with trucks carrying dirt, so it is very dangerous.”
Currently, the North-South Expressway project, Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon section, is also in the acceleration phase, so the number of trucks transporting soil for the project has also increased dramatically. Talking to reporters, Mr. Tran Van Chi - Director of the XL1 package said that although the demand for transporting construction materials, especially soil, is still very high, the construction contractor has cut 4 transport units with 35 vehicles; currently, there are only 8 units/180 vehicles participating in transporting materials for construction. The reduction in truck traffic is aimed at ensuring traffic safety.
The Traffic Police Department of Quang Ngai Provincial Police has launched a campaign to ensure traffic order and safety on the occasion of National Day 2.9 and the peak month of traffic safety for students going to school - September 2024. The Traffic Police Department will increase patrols, control, and strictly handle violations of traffic order and safety with the spirit of no forbidden zones and no exceptions. In particular, focusing on handling violations that are direct causes of traffic accidents such as: Violating regulations on alcohol and drug concentrations; speeding violations; expanding vehicle bodies; violating regulations on illegal avoidance and overtaking...
The Traffic Police Department closely coordinates with relevant agencies, units and educational institutions to effectively implement solutions to ensure traffic safety and order in general and among school-age children in particular. In particular, focusing on propaganda about traffic safety and order in 100% of educational institutions during the opening of the new school year.
