At about 9:50 a.m. on January 27, a forest fire broke out on Thoi Day Island, Tan Lap Commune, Dam Ha District.
Upon receiving information from the local authorities, the Military Command of Dam Ha District (Quang Ninh Provincial Military Command) mobilized dozens of officers and soldiers to coordinate with the maritime militia, police and forest rangers to use many means and equipment to contain and extinguish the fire.
However, due to the island terrain, steep hills and lots of dry grass and bushes, firefighters had difficulty reaching the scene. The darkness made the firefighting task even more difficult.
As of the morning of January 28 (29th of Tet), authorities are still continuing to deploy fire fighting work.
At around 12 noon on January 27, a large forest fire broke out in Dai Dan area, Dai Yen ward, Ha Long city.
Immediately upon receiving the news from the people, Dai Yen Ward People's Committee mobilized the grassroots security force to coordinate with the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police (PCCC) and the people to isolate and put out the fire.
Due to dry weather, strong winds and thick vegetation, the fire spread quickly, burning about 20 hectares of forest.
Along with the efforts of the authorities, many people near the scene actively supported by using household water hoses to put out the fire.
By around 9pm the same day, the fire was basically under control. However, by the morning of January 28 (ie 29th of Tet), some locations in the area were still smoldering.
Local authorities and functional forces are still closely monitoring to thoroughly handle the fire.
