As of the morning of August 23, storm No. 5 has entered the northeastern sea of the East Sea, it is forecasted that in the next 24 - 48 hours the storm will strengthen and may directly affect the North Central region, including Quang Tri province.

The province also urgently calls on ships to enter the anchorage area safely, move all tourists from Con Co Island to the mainland; at the same time, strictly control, do not let ships go to sea in the danger zone.
The Provincial People's Committee emphasized the task of ensuring safe operation of reservoirs, dams, dykes, and embankments, especially works under construction. Localities must proactively protect agricultural and aquatic production to minimize damage caused by storms.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Hoang Nam Provincial People's Committee requested the entire system to uphold the spirit of " proactive - urgent - safe - effective". In particular, forecast information must be updated continuously and promptly; absolutely do not let slowness or lack of information lead to passiveness.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also directed the People's Committees of communes and wards, especially coastal areas, river mouths, low-lying areas and mountainous areas, to proactively review and identify high-risk areas to be ready to evacuate people when necessary. Ensuring the safety of students at the beginning of the new school year is a top priority.
Along with that, construction units of irrigation works, dams, and embankments must strengthen the protection of works, workers, and downstream areas. Localities need to fully prepare plans to regulate water and discharge floodwaters in a controlled manner, ensuring the safety of works and people.
The People's Committee of Quang Tri province also requires the reserve of food and necessities in areas that are easily isolated; prepare mobile health plans, medicine, and disinfectants to promptly support people when there are incidents. Units must strictly implement the 24/24 duty regime and quickly and accurately report to the Office of the Provincial Civil Defense Command, to ensure the most effective direction and operation of the response to storm No. 5.
