On June 11, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province confirmed that it had reviewed and proposed to the Ministry of Home Affairs a list of new commune-level administrative units applying special allowances.
Accordingly, Quang Tri province proposed that new commune-level administrative units including Huong Lap, Huong Phung, Lie, A Doi, La Lay, Ta Rut, Dakrong, Con Co Special Zone have a 50% allowance.
The locality proposed the above allowance level based on the reality of the old commune-level administrative unit. For example, Huong Lap commune was established on the basis of merging the old Huong Lap commune, which is currently receiving a special allowance of 50% and Huong Viet commune, which is currently receiving a special allowance of 30%. Huong Lap commune after the merger has up to 29.6km of border, large area, difficult transportation and mainly ethnic minorities.
In addition to special allowances, Quang Tri province also proposed the area to apply regional allowances to 19 new commune-level administrative units, including: Huong Lap, Huong Phung, Khe Sanh, Tan Lap, Lie, A Doi, La Lay, Ta But, Dakrong, Con Co Special Zone (allowance coefficient 0.7); Lao Bao, Ben Quan (allowance coefficient 0.5); Huong Hiep, Ba Long (allowance coefficient 0.4); Vinh Linh, Vinh Thuy (allowance coefficient 0.1); Con Tien (allowance coefficient 0.3); Cam Lo, Hieu Giang (allowance coefficient 0.2).
Quang Tri currently has 10 district-level administrative units (including 7 districts, 1 island district, 1 city, 1 town) with 119 commune-level units: 13 wards, 11 towns, 95 communes. After dissolving district-level administrative units, Quang Tri province rearranged them into 37 new commune-level administrative units.
