In response to the Prime Minister's request to speed up the "Quang Trung Campaign", the leaders of Quang Tri province continued to directly inspect the landslide scene affecting 12 households in Khe Sanh commune (Quang Tri province), and worked with local authorities to agree on a handling plan.
At the scene, the working group noted that the landslide area behind the Hung Vuong residential area was large in scale, posing a potential risk of serious safety. After the inspection, the delegation worked with the leaders of Khe Sanh commune, relevant departments and branches to carefully assess the current situation and select optimal investment solutions to build anti-landslide embankments.
According to the proposal of the Department of Construction of Quang Tri province and specialized units, the chosen option is to build a concrete retaining wall in the form of a weight-in-force retaining wall, about 150m long. The project combines the reinforcement of the embankment roof with frames, reinforced concrete reinforces, bamboo pile reinforcement foundations; filling the soil to return to the height of the people's foundation, ensuring a 5% slope for surface drainage.
At the same time, build a system of ditches to collect surface water and domestic wastewater; cover the cement concrete surface to limit water absorption; treat underground drainage with materials in the form of particles behind the embankment body, wrap the technical tarpaulin and arrange underground drainage pipes.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh directed the Department of Construction to deploy optimal solutions, calculate in detail the peeling of the sliding soil layer to construct a solid embankment. The construction of embankments and reinforcement of the ground must be implemented in parallel to shorten the time, ensure quality and absolute safety.
In particular, units need to check and assess the impact on the geological foundations of households during the construction process, and at the same time support and guide people to dismantle the affected houses.
The Party Committee and People's Committee of Khe Sanh commune are assigned to coordinate in opening public service roads to the construction area, supervising and urging progress; directing forces to ensure security and order, not allowing shortages or fluctuations in construction material prices to slow down the progress of the project.
According to Quang Tri Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Phuong, the "Quang Trung Campaign" must be implemented with a spirit of speed, determination and the highest responsibility to the people. Therefore, it is necessary to mobilize the entire political system to participate, leaders of departments, branches and localities are regularly present at the site to monitor the landslide and supervise the construction. The embankment project will start construction on December 14 and be completed before January 20, 2026, if conditions allow, earlier.
Previously, in mid-November 2025, especially heavy rain caused serious landslides in the stream slope behind Hung Vuong residential area (Khe Sanh commune). The landslide is about 170m long, 15m deep, 30m wide, over 5,000m2 in area, damaging the back of 2 houses, causing cracks from 1 - 10m and threatening the safety of 10 adjacent houses. On November 25, the Provincial People's Committee issued a natural disaster emergency to proactively handle.
People in landslide areas hope to soon repair and stabilize their lives in their old homes, making them more convenient for living and doing business.
On November 30 and December 3, the Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch 234 and Official Dispatch 1551, directing the Central provinces to promptly overcome the damage after natural disasters. At the online meeting on the morning of December 9, the Prime Minister continued to request to speed up the "Quang Trung Campaign", speed up the reconstruction and repair of houses for families whose houses were damaged by recent natural disasters. Also at this meeting, the Prime Minister criticized Quang Tri province for not implementing repairs for 12 households whose houses were severely damaged by the impact of storms and asked the province to report.
