Hundred-billion square in Hue sets completion milestone after sanctioning contractor

QUẢNG AN |

HUE - The key item of the Hue Culture and Sports Square project is extended until June 30 after the contractor was fined twice for slow progress.

The contractor constructing the renovation item of the stadium belonging to the Hue City Culture and Sports Square project continued to be fined for slow progress, raising the total fine after two times to nearly 293 million VND.

According to information from the leaders of the Hue Urban Development and Construction Investment Project Management Board (the project investor), An Bao Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company was fined for the second time more than 261 million VND for violating the progress at package No. 11.

Previously, on May 20, this enterprise was fined more than 31 million VND for the same reason. The entire amount will be deducted from the next installments of completed volume payments.

Along with the penalty, the investor agreed to extend the completion time of package No. 11 to June 30. If it continues to fail to ensure progress, the contractor will be considered for handling according to the contract terms and current regulations.

The Hue City Culture and Sports Square project was approved in 2023 with a total investment of 196 billion VND, implemented in the period 2024 - 2026. The project includes two main items: building outdoor technical infrastructure and renovating the old Thua Thien Hue provincial sports stadium.

According to the initial plan, the entire project must be completed to be put into use on April 30. However, the project to renovate the stadium with a contract value of more than 83 billion VND is continuously behind schedule. The completion milestone on February 10 was not achieved, then continued to be missed on April 30 and was extended to May 30 but has not been completed.

Currently, the outdoor technical infrastructure system has been put into use. The renovation item of the gymnasium is being requested by the investor to accelerate construction to be completed before June 30, the latest deadline set for the project after many delays.
