On March 2nd, leaders of Hue Central Hospital said that hospital doctors had just saved a 7-year-old girl (residing in A Luoi, Hue City) who was bitten by a krait while sleeping.
Previously, the baby was bitten by a snake on his right hand. After the family gave first aid, the child was transferred to A Luoi Medical Center in critical condition, respiratory failure, and had to have endotracheal intubation to be transferred to another hospital.
When admitted to Hue Central Hospital, the baby was paralyzed in his limbs and dilated pupils. Doctors determined nerve venom infection from krait, immediately prescribed resuscitation protocols and urgently requested antivenom serum.
With the drastic coordination of Children's Hospital 1, 5 vials of serum were urgently transported by night flight. After two days of treatment, the patient began to recover, leaving no sequelae.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Xuan - Deputy Director of Hue Central Hospital recommends that people when bitten by snakes should remain calm, wash their wounds, and quickly go to medical facilities for timely emergency treatment; absolutely do not self-detoxify or apply leaves to avoid infection and delay the emergency time.
