On May 26, the Nha Trang Bay Management Board said that in recent years, many rare marine animals have reappeared in the protected area of Nha Trang Bay.
This information was released after Lao Dong Newspaper reflected on the appearance of whales in the Hon Mun area, belonging to Nha Trang Bay.
According to the Nha Trang Bay Management Board, from 2024 to now, the bay area has recorded the return of many rare marine species such as sea turtles appearing in October 2024; a herd of more than 100 dolphins appearing in Hon Dung area in April 2025; Bryde whales appearing in Hon Mun in July 2025.
This is considered a positive sign for the ecological environment and water quality in Nha Trang Bay.
This shows that the tasks in the overall plan to restore Nha Trang Bay by 2030 have initially been effective.
Most recently, the Nha Trang Bay Management Board continued to discover whale Bryde reappearing in the Hon Mun protection sub-area.
According to management agencies, whales use low-frequency (low-frequency) sound waves to orient and communicate.
Therefore, noise from ship engines, aircraft, loudspeakers and tourism activities can affect the species' habits, behaviors and biological functions.
Nha Trang Bay Management Board recommends that drivers of tourist vehicles, people and tourists raise awareness and responsibility in protecting rare marine animals.
In case whales or rare marine animals are detected, people need to notify the Nha Trang Bay Management Board to coordinate protection and appropriate handling.
