On December 3, Mr. Pham Thanh Lam - Director of Ca Mau Airport - said that the airport and Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) have handed over the coordinates and boundaries of land clearance according to the approved planning to the People's Committee of Ca Mau city to implement, count, and clear the land for the Ca Mau Airport Upgrading and Expansion Project.
"The site clearance is outside the scope of the existing flight route, so it will not affect flight operations. Ca Mau Airport will continue to operate normally until a decision is made to close it for repairs and upgrades to the terminal," Mr. Lam affirmed.
Previously, on December 1, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province issued a plan to organize the implementation of compensation, support, and resettlement for the land acquisition, compensation, support, and resettlement project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport.
Accordingly, Ca Mau province is determined to strive to hand over the site to investors to implement the project by March 31, 2025. The province focuses all resources on carrying out the clearance, compensation, and resettlement of affected organizations and individuals.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province proposed that the organization of compensation, support and resettlement of the project is a criterion to consider and evaluate the level of task completion of the heads of relevant agencies and units.
Previously, on October 15, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1188/QD-TTg approving the investment policy for the project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport.
According to the decision, the total project implementation cost is about VND 2,400 billion (excluding site clearance costs), using 100% of ACV's equity; the project implementation progress is 18 months from the date the state allocates land.
On October 28, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha assigned the Ministry of Planning and Investment to issue a document instructing the People's Committee of Ca Mau province to use the local budget to conduct site clearance for Ca Mau Airport to allocate land according to the investment policy requirements for the Ca Mau Airport expansion and upgrade project.
