On February 24, leaders of Da Nang International Airport confirmed that the non-stop toll collection (ETC) system had a technical incident on the evening of February 23, causing traffic through this area to be disrupted.
According to initial information, at about 6:30 PM on February 23rd - the time when the number of vehicles picking up and dropping off passengers at the airport increased sharply - the ETC system in the outbound lanes suddenly encountered a fault. The incident caused the device to be unable to read the card or process automatic payment transactions, causing vehicles to be congested right in front of the barrier.
In a short time, a long line of cars was stuck in the exit area towards Nguyen Van Linh and Duy Tan streets. Many passengers and drivers appeared tired of waiting for a long time. Images and videos of this congestion scene were also widely shared on social networking sites.

Leaders of Da Nang International Airport said that as soon as a malfunction was detected, the management unit immediately coordinated with the contractor to operate the system to urgently fix technical issues.
However, to avoid prolonged traffic jams on main roads and the station area, the relevant parties have agreed on a plan to discharge the station, open barriers for vehicles to pass freely to clear the congested volume of cars.
After about 15 minutes of handling and discharging the station, the technical problem was completely overcome, and the traffic situation in the airport area returned to stability.
The ETC system at Da Nang airport is deployed with the aim of modernizing infrastructure, reducing waiting times and limiting the use of cash. Currently, the entrance and exit fee at the airport is maintained at a minimum of 10,000 VND/turn. In addition to the automatic toll collection lane for cars that have been pasted, the airport still maintains mixed lanes to support cash payment or QR code scanning for cases that do not meet the conditions for automatic payment.
