At about 8:20 a.m. on December 19, flight Boeing 787 of Vietnam Airlines took off from Noi Bai airport and landed at Long Thanh airport carrying a delegation attending the inauguration ceremony of the projects and the opening of the first flight at Long Thanh airport, Long Thanh commune, Dong Nai province.
Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh and the delegation attended the inauguration ceremony of the projects and the opening of the first flight at Long Thanh airport.
The moment the plane touched the new runway, receiving a long series of applause, marked an important milestone of the national key aviation infrastructure project.
Immediately afterwards, flights of Vietjet and Bamboo airlines also landed safely, contributing to creating a vibrant and exciting atmosphere at the new airport - Long Thanh airport.




Previously, on December 15, flight number VN5001 using the wide-body Boeing 787-9 of Vietnam Airlines took off from Tan Son Nhat airport, landed at Long Thanh airport and returned, completing the first technical flight cycle.
Long Thanh International Airport is planned to reach level 4F - the highest level of ICAO, with the capacity after completing all 3 phases reaching 100 million passengers/year and 5 million tons of cargo/year.
According to the plan, phase 1 will build 2 runways, a passenger terminal with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year and a cargo terminal of 1.2 million tons/year.
The airport aims for 5-star standards, developed according to the smart airport model, green airport, capable of receiving large aircraft such as Airbus A380 and Boeing 747-8, serving transcontinental operations with maximum payload.
