On December 18, according to information from Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), preparations for the inauguration ceremony of projects and the opening of the first flight at Long Thanh International Airport (abbreviated as Long Thanh Airport) are being urgently deployed synchronously.
Previously, on December 15, flight number VN5001 using the wide-body Boeing 787-9 of Vietnam Airlines took off from Tan Son Nhat airport and landed at Long Thanh airport and returned to Tan Son Nhat, completing the first technical flight cycle at the new airport.
Long Thanh International Airport is planned to reach level 4F (the highest level of the International Civil Aviation Organization - ICAO); is an important international airport of the country, aiming to become one of the air transit centers of the region, with a scale and capacity after completing all 3 phases of 100 million passengers/year and 5 million tons of cargo/year.
In the immediate future, phase 1 will invest in the construction of 2 runways, a passenger terminal with a capacity of 25 million passengers/year, a cargo terminal with 1.2 million tons of cargo/year and synchronous auxiliary items.
With level 4F standards, Long Thanh airport is capable of receiving the largest aircraft today such as Airbus A380 or Boeing 747-8, serving transcontinental operations with maximum payload.
Long Thanh Airport aims to become a smart airport (Smart Airport) and a green airport (Green Airport) with the integration of biometrics, AI, and CO2 emissions reduction, with 5-star international standards.
On December 17, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province issued a plan to organize the groundbreaking ceremony, inauguration, and technical opening of 9 projects to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Party on December 19.
Of which, 2 projects will hold a groundbreaking ceremony including: Launching ceremony of Bau Can - Tan Hiep Industrial Park Project (phase 1) and Launching ceremony of Xuan Que - Song Nhan Industrial Park Project (phase 1).
7 other projects and works in Dong Nai province will organize the groundbreaking, inauguration, and technical traffic opening, including: Inauguration ceremony of some works and opening of the first flight of Long Thanh International Airport Project Phase 1 - Component Project 3.
