On the afternoon of October 23, at the 25-storey Hiyori Aqua Tower apartment complex on Le Duc Tho Street, Son Tra Ward, Da Nang City, a serious crane broke while under construction.
According to witnesses, at the time of the incident, the crane was lifting materials to a height of about 15m when the cable suddenly broke, causing a loud "sprinting" and then breaking down at the foot of the construction site.
The sudden accident injured 1 person and took him to the hospital for emergency treatment. Many workers working below panicked and fled.
Immediately after the incident, Da Nang authorities arrived at the scene to block off the area, investigate the cause and check all crane equipment, scaffolding and labor safety systems at the construction site. Initially, it was determined that the broken lifting cable was the direct cause of the crane breaking.
According to initial records, broken cranes fell onto the material gathering area, fortunately not hitting a house or an outside traffic area.
The Hiyori Aqua Tower luxury apartment project has a scale of 25 floors, 2 basements, including 202 luxury apartments. The project started in September 2024 and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026.
This is a cooperative project, developed by Sun Frontier Da Nang One Member Co., Ltd., under Sun Frontier Japan, and 3 Vietnamese partners. The investor is Aqua Tower Company Limited. Dinco Construction Engineering Joint Stock Company is the general contractor for the construction.
