A serious labor accident has just occurred at the XLTN2 package under construction to relocate and re-establish drainage works, signs, lighting, and traffic lights from S7 station (Bao Hien station) to S11 station (Tan Binh station), part of the metro line 2 project (Metro No. 2), killing a worker.
Information from the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (the investor of the project) said that the incident occurred at around 5:10 a.m. on September 22, 2025 on Xuan Hong Street (near the intersection of Truong Chinh - Xuan Hong) in Tan Son Nhat Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
The victim was Mr. Nguyen Van Tu (born in 1964). According to the report, Mr. Tu was working on the process of re-establishing the road when he was suddenly hit in the head by a tractor. The reason is that the victim stood at the blind spot of the tractor (the back of the tractor), causing the tractor driver to not observe while driving the construction vehicle.
Immediately after the incident, the contractor contacted Emergency 115. About 20 minutes later, the emergency staff arrived and performed emergency procedures, but the victim did not survive.
Preliminary evidence shows that the victim suffered head injuries and died at the scene. The construction unit met, encouraged and supported the victim's family, and reported to the local authorities and the investor.
Metro Line 2, over 11 km long with a total investment of nearly VND47,900 billion (equivalent to over 2 billion USD), is expected to become one of the most modern transportation projects, connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with the Northwest gateway.
The project was approved in 2010 but has been continuously problematic and has been delayed many times.
Ho Chi Minh City is focusing on completing adjustment procedures in the form of public investment, taking advantage of the special mechanism of Resolution 188, with the goal of starting the project by the end of 2025 and completing it by 2030.
