That is one of the main reasons why in recent days, Ha Long Bay has welcomed quite a lot of visitors, mainly international visitors, while the domestic tourist season is over but the international tourist season has not yet begun.
According to information from the Ha Long Bay Management Board, on the first day of reopening to visitors after storm No. 3, despite the rain, on September 10, Ha Long Bay welcomed 3,870 visitors, mainly international visitors. Of these, 615 guests stayed overnight on the bay; the rest were day visitors.
Then, to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 on some items receiving and serving guests on Ha Long Bay, Ha Long Bay temporarily stopped receiving guests and reopened on September 13.
The total number of visitors to Ha Long Bay on September 13 was 5,500, including 4,165 international visitors and the rest Vietnamese visitors.
Of these, 1,057 people stayed overnight in Ha Long Bay, including 1,002 foreign guests and 55 Vietnamese guests.
Meanwhile, before storm No. 3, Ha Long Bay only welcomed about 2,000 international visitors on peak days.
According to tourism workers in Ha Long Bay, compared to normal days before storm No. 3, the number of international visitors in the past few days has been much higher, even though the international tourist season usually starts from October until about April of the following year.
Representatives of several international travel companies said that due to concerns about floods and landslides in the Northwestern provinces, including Sapa, many tourists have changed their direction to Ha Long, even though Ha Long has just been devastated by super typhoon No. 3.
According to the Quang Ninh Department of Tourism, Quang Ninh's tourism infrastructure and services were severely damaged by storm No. 3. However, up to now, some facilities have been repaired and the facilities and items are still safe after the storm, Ha Long is ready to welcome visitors again.
Currently, in Ha Long City, there are 39 4-5 star hotels with 8,572 rooms, of which 5,196 rooms are ready to welcome guests (accounting for 60% of the total number of rooms). The tourist accommodation facilities from 1-3 stars and meeting standards are still ready to welcome guests: about 580 hotels with 8,540 rooms.
In the recent storm No. 3, 27 tourist boats sank. Currently, the total number of boats ready for operation is 315 (88%). Of which, at Ha Long International Passenger Port, there are 119 sightseeing and restaurant boats, 36 accommodation boats; at Tuan Chau Port, there are 110 sightseeing and restaurant boats, 50 accommodation boats.
To help tourism recover quickly after the storm, today (September 14), Quang Ninh began a 3-day campaign to clean up Ha Long Bay to welcome tourists back.
Accordingly, Quang Ninh will mobilize organizations and unions to collect waste, renovate infrastructure, and immediately salvage sunken ships...
Also today, Quang Ninh launched a general cleaning campaign across the province on September 14 and 15, following the motto "clean houses, clean alleys, clean residences and workplaces" to bring people's daily life and production back to normal.
