On September 27, 2025, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting issued a warning of flash floods, landslides and land subsidence due to heavy rain and floods in Son La province.
According to monitoring data, in the past 6 hours (from 5am to 11am on September 27), many areas in Son La have experienced moderate to heavy rain: Km46 recorded 76.4mm, Long Sap 59.4mm, Van Ho 57mm...
Soil moisture models show that some places are close to or have reached a saturated state of over 85%, increasing the risk of landslides.
The center forecasts that Son La province will continue to have rain, with accumulated rainfall ranging from 20-40mm, with some places over 70mm in the next few hours.
This rainfall could cause the situation of saturated soil to spread, increasing the risk of natural disasters.
In the next 6 hours, the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides on steep slopes is warned at level 1.
Areas that need special attention include: Chieng Hac, Chieng Khoong, Chieng Khuong, Huoi Mot, Long Phieng, Long Sap, Muong Hung, Muong Lan, Van Son ward, Phieng Khoai, Phieng Pan, Van Ho, Yen Son.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that flash floods and landslides can directly endanger people's lives, cause traffic congestion, and affect production and daily activities.
The specialized agency recommends that authorities and natural disaster prevention forces at all levels urgently review flow bottlenecks and vulnerable areas, proactively evacuate and respond to ensure people's safety.
