On the afternoon of June 30, the working delegation of Division 968 (Military Region 4) led by Colonel Nguyen Chinh Trieu - Deputy Political Commissar of Division 968 inspected the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains in the garden area of Mr. Nguyen Duc Nha's house, Quat Xa village, Cam Lo commune, Quang Tri province.
Through actual inspection, the working delegation acknowledged and praised the spirit of responsibility and efforts of officers and staff of the Team for searching and repatriating martyrs' remains of Division 968. Despite the harsh hot weather, the task force still proactively overcame difficulties, organized scientific and close searches and achieved positive results.
According to Division 968, from information provided by Mr. Nguyen Duc Nha, during the digging of the foundation to build a house, the family discovered traces suspected of being the burial place of soldiers. Immediately after receiving the information, the Team for searching and repatriating martyrs' remains deployed surveys and organized searches.
Through the excavation process, functional forces exhumed 1 set of martyr remains located in the combat bunker at a depth of about 0.8-1m. The bones have been broken and decomposed over time.
Along with the remains, the search force also discovered many artifacts such as bunker bunkers, buttons for soldiers' shirts, rubber sandals, leather briefcases, gun cleaning oil boxes, AK bullet casings, information wires... These are important documents serving the verification and identification of martyrs.
Currently, the martyrs' remains are being solemnly preserved by the Search and Repatriation Team of Division 968 at the Quat Xa village hall, Cam Lo commune.
Concluding the inspection session, the working delegation requested the Team for searching for and repatriating martyrs' remains to continue to thoroughly grasp the task, promote the spirit of responsibility, expand the search scope in the area; and at the same time closely coordinate with local Party committees, authorities and functional agencies to collect, compare, and verify information sources, contributing to early identification of martyrs' identities.
