According to the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police, after 45 days of implementing the peak plan to ensure traffic order and safety (TTATGT) during the New Year, Lunar New Year and spring festival in 2025 (from December 10, 2024 to present), the traffic situation in Hanoi has had positive changes.
Traffic police forces focused on traffic flow and control at key routes, built and effectively implemented the "Traffic Safety Intersection" model at 20 major intersections, and provided guidance and handled violations throughout, contributing to ensuring smooth and safe traffic during the holidays and Tet.
Promote propaganda on the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, Decree No. 168/2024/ND-CP of the Government and measures to ensure traffic safety.
Installed more than 200 propaganda signs at 58 intersections in the city, and broadcasted propaganda content on large LED screens in shopping malls and crowded areas. Thereby, the awareness of traffic law compliance of people in the capital has changed significantly, and violations have decreased significantly.
After 45 days of peak implementation, the city's traffic police force has handled 34,698 cases of traffic safety violations, temporarily detained 10,123 vehicles of all types, revoked 3,432 driving licenses and deducted points from 1,962 driving licenses. Common violations such as running red lights (1,067 cases), driving in the wrong direction (1,030 cases), speeding (2,112 cases) and violating alcohol concentration (7,540 cases) were all strictly handled, creating a positive effect in deterrence and educating traffic awareness.
Traffic accidents have decreased significantly in all three criteria: number of cases, number of deaths and number of injuries. According to Colonel Tran Dinh Nghia, Head of the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police, the implementation of Decree No. 168/2024/ND-CP has created a strong legal tool to handle violations, raising people's awareness of voluntarily complying with traffic laws.
“The traffic police force will continue to maintain measures to ensure traffic safety throughout the area, contributing to protecting people's safety during the spring festivals and preserving the civilized and modern traffic appearance of the capital,” said Colonel Tran Dinh Nghia.
