According to a report by the Vietnam Road Administration, at about 4:30 am on January 17, 2026, at Km225+148P National Highway 6, in Chieng Hac commune, Son La province, a traffic accident occurred.

The consequence of the accident was 3 deaths, 1 injured person was taken to Yen Chau Hospital for emergency treatment. The accident also caused many property damages, including: damage to 1 I.439 sign; 4 wavy corrugated iron sheets of 4.0 m type, total length 16 m; 9 pillars; 7 cushions; 7 long bolts; 9 reflective eyes. The accident also caused heavy damage to 1 car.
At the scene, a passenger car with license plate 26F-00851 driven by Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, traveling in the direction of Hanoi - Son La, self-caused an accident.
According to the Vietnam Road Administration, the preliminary cause is that the car got stuck in the brakes, rushed to the left, then steered to the right, crashed into the traffic sign and corrugated iron guardrail at the beginning of the bridge, causing the car to overturn into the embankment of the roof of bridge number 3. The cause of the accident continues to be investigated and clarified by functional agencies.
The Vietnam Road Administration provides information on the current situation at the accident site as follows: The traffic safety signal system on the route where the traffic accident occurred is fully arranged, the road surface is smooth. After the traffic accident occurred, Road Management Unit No. 10 coordinated with the Traffic Police force, Road Management Office I.1 and local authorities to resolve it, ensuring smooth traffic.
