Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern provinces are experiencing a remarkable heat wave in the rainy season, with daytime temperatures reaching 32‐35 degrees Celsius, in some places exceeding the threshold of 35 degrees Celsius. The prolonged harsh weather has caused many workers such as outdoor workers, technology drivers... to sweat and lose their livelihood.
Located on the riverbank, driver Nguyen Huu Loi said that after many hours of exposure to the heat, he was forced to stop more to avoid the sun and exhaustion.
"I had to wear a helmet with a ring, a sun protection shirt, gloves, water bottle... to prevent the sun, but the sun was too strong, so I had to turn off the app, find a place to rest along the river before running again," said Mr. Loi.

Driver Hoang Anh Hung brought a hammock under the bridge, avoiding the sun while taking a break.
Mr. Hung shared: "I parked the car near the base of the tree, had a hammock and lay down for a moment before continuing to run. Sometimes I lie down for about an hour before daring to continue running. If I hadn't stopped, I would probably be tired.

According to Mr. Le Dinh Quyet - Head of the Hydrometeorological Forecasting Department, Southern Hydrometeorological Station, the cause of this hot spell of sunshine comes from the hot low pressure in the West combined with the strong subtropical high pressure, creating a high-altitude phase difference, limiting water evaporation, causing clear, cloudy skies and prolonged sunshine.
As a result, the tunnel sunlight in the rainy season causes intermittent rain and after the sunlight, there are warnings of thunderstorms, hail, lightning and strong gusts of wind in the evening.
According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, it is forecasted that from August 6-10, the Southern region will have clouds changing to cloudy; sunny days, sometimes intermittent sunshine; in the afternoon and evening, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, some places will have moderate rain, locally heavy rain.
The meteorological agency recommends that people should be on guard against heavy rain causing local flooding in low-lying areas and landslides along rivers. Thunderstorms are accompanied by dangerous weather phenomena such as tornadoes, hail and strong gusts of wind.
