Vice Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee Le Xuan Loi has just signed an official dispatch on strengthening measures to protect aquatic resources, requesting functional forces to organize peak patrols, inspections, and strictly handle acts of using electric shock, explosives, toxic substances, prohibited chemicals and means and fishing gear of destructive and exterminatory nature.
Accordingly, Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Police, People's Committees of communes, wards and relevant agencies to identify the protection of aquatic resources as a regular and continuous task; proactively build peak periods of inter-sectoral patrols and inspections in areas and localities at risk of violations.
The focus is on fighting against acts of using electric shock, explosives, toxic substances, prohibited chemicals and types of destructive and exterminatory fishing gear - methods that not only reduce aquatic resources but also directly impact the environment and aquatic ecosystems. These are also acts that are prohibited under Article 7 of the 2017 Fisheries Law.
Notably, the control is not only carried out in rivers, lakes and areas at risk of illegal fishing, the Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to coordinate with the Provincial Police to monitor, inspect, promptly detect and handle illegal trading and storage of prohibited equipment and fishing gear in the online environment and in the province.
The Provincial Police directed forces to strengthen grasping the situation, patrolling, investigating, and cracking down; coordinate to handle violations and control activities of buying, selling, and illegally storing prohibited equipment and fishing gear in cyberspace.
At the grassroots level, the People's Committees of communes and wards must proactively review and identify areas at risk of seafood exploitation by destructive methods to develop appropriate inspection and supervision plans.
Relevant organizations and individuals are mobilized to sign commitments not to use electric shock, explosives, prohibited chemicals, prohibited vehicles and fishing gear in seafood exploitation.
Along with strengthening inspections, the province requests to launch a movement for the whole people to participate in protecting aquatic resources.
Through this, Bac Ninh aims to prevent destructive exploitation methods from an early stage, protect natural aquatic resources and maintain ecological balance in rivers, lakes, and water areas in the province.
