According to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, on December 31, at the construction site of the Le Duan overpass (in Cam Due commune, Cam Xuyen district) belonging to the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang section of the North - South Eastern expressway project phase 2021 - 2025 through Ha Tinh, dozens of workers were working.
Workers are tying steel to reinforce the iron part, including straightening the iron, welding and tying the floor iron to prepare for pouring concrete on the bridge deck.
Mr. Vi Van Diep (24 years old, from Nghia Dan district, Nghe An province) said that he has been working on the Le Duan bridge for 4 months now. He is paid 400,000 VND per day.
“To ensure work, we have lunch at the construction site and then take a short break to continue working every afternoon. It has been raining a lot this time, so some days we have to take a day off and cannot work, and if we take a day off, we will not be paid,” said Mr. Diep.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tien - Deputy Commander of Le Duan Bridge construction site of Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise - said that there are currently more than 60 technical staff and construction workers at the Le Duan Bridge construction site. Among them, many of the workers are local seasonal workers.
According to Mr. Tien, Le Duan Bridge is the longest expressway bridge among the Eastern expressways in the 2021-2025 period passing through Ha Tinh province. This bridge is 920m long, with a width of nearly 17m.
"Today we have to work overtime, pour concrete on the bridge deck to complete it, then clean and sanitize the bridge deck so that the Minister of Transport can inspect it next Thursday," Mr. Tien informed.
The contractor representative also said that according to the set schedule, Le Duan Bridge will be completed and open to traffic by the end of the 12th lunar month of 2024.
Mr. Nguyen Khac Trung - Director of the North - South Expressway Project Management Board, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang section - said that currently, the construction volume at the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway construction site has reached about 73%.
According to Mr. Trung, due to the cold and rainy days, the road paving work was delayed a bit. Now, taking advantage of the clear and dry weather, contractors are focusing on the main construction items, which are the roadbed foundation and road surface paving.
Mr. Trung also said that to speed up the progress, according to the plan on New Year's Day, January 1, 2025, the North-South Expressway construction site will still operate normally and will not be closed.
Mr. Hoang Chien Thang - Executive Director of the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi expressway project - informed that the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi expressway has completed about 68% of the construction volume.
Mr. Thang added that on New Year's Day, January 1, 2025, the Bai Vot - Ham Nghi expressway construction site will still be under normal construction.
