On the evening of March 14, information from the Border Guard Command (BĐBP) of Can Tho City said that in the afternoon of the same day, in the buoy area No. 32 of Dinh An channel, the unit organized the reception of 4 crew members of the Truong Hung 268 ship in distress at sea from SAR 413 ship handed over by the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region III.

Previously, on March 13, the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region III received information from the Cospas-Sarsat satellite system and Can Tho Maritime Administration about the Truong Hung 268 ship (Vietnamese nationality) being in distress at sea. At the time of the incident, there were 4 crew members on board.
The location of the ship's accident was determined at coordinates of about 09°25'N – 106°21'E, about 66 nautical miles southwest of Vung Tau cape and about 6 nautical miles southeast of Dinh An estuary. The weather in the area has Northeast wind level 5–6, gusting level 7–8.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region III requested the Ho Chi Minh City Coastal Information Station to issue an urgent notice, mobilize forces and ships operating in the area to coordinate support. At the same time, SAR 413 ship, which is on duty in Vung Tau, was urgently dispatched to leave the port wharf at 2:15 pm on March 13 to go to the scene to organize search and rescue.
Upon receiving the information, the Border Guard Command of Can Tho City also dispatched ship BP 18. 98. 01 of the Border Guard Flotilla and 12 officers and soldiers to participate in coordination with SAR 413 ship and fishing boats operating in the sea area where the ship was in distress to search for the crew members.
During the deployment of forces, many fishing boats operating near the area actively participated in rescue support. Fishing boat BL 91558 TS promptly rescued 2 crew members. At 9:15 am on March 14, SAR 413 approached fishing boat BL 91558 TS and received these 2 crew members.
Then, at 10:36 am on the same day, SAR 413 ship approached GRAND FAMILY 18 ship and received 2 other crew members of Truong Hung 268 ship who had been rescued by this ship before.

After receiving the crew members, the rescue force conducted initial health checks, medical care and organized to bring the crew members ashore safely. According to the assessment of functional forces, all 4 crew members are in stable health, alert and walking normally.
By 3:30 PM on March 14, SAR 413 ship handed over 4 crew members to the Can Tho City Border Guard force according to regulations. The Can Tho City Border Guard Command sent military medical personnel to examine the health of the crew members during the process of bringing them ashore, and at the same time completed the dossier to hand over to Minh Chau International Trading and Transportation Co., Ltd. (address in Xuan Trung commune, Xuan Truong district, former Nam Dinh province).

According to the crew members, the initial cause was determined to be that the ship's hydraulic system was damaged, then drifted to the beach in conditions of strong winds and waves, causing it to sink.
