On the morning of March 12, the People's Committee of Phu Quy Special Economic Zone (Lam Dong province) said that 2 fishing boats that broke down while operating at sea were promptly rescued by the logistics service ship Quoc Khang and towed back to the island safely.
Previously, in the afternoon of March 11, a group of 3 fishing boats with license plates from Quang Ngai province were fishing about 11 nautical miles (about 20km) from Phu Quy island when one boat suddenly encountered engine failure. The other two fishing boats supported to tow the distressed boat to Phu Quy island for repair.

During the movement, due to bad weather and big waves, another fishing boat in the group also encountered engine failure. The fishermen on board contacted Phu Quy Island for rescue support.
Upon receiving the information, the logistics service ship Quoc Khang, which was anchored at Phu Quy port, quickly departed to the area where the fishing boats were in distress.

After about 1.5 hours of overcoming large waves, the logistics ship approached the scene and deployed to make towing ropes.
According to the ship owner's representative, the route from Phu Quy port to the rescue area was windy. However, when towing 2 fishing boats simultaneously into the island, they encountered backwind, plus the large tonnage of the fishing boats, making moving difficult and 3 times the time to go out.
During the towing process in high wave conditions, the tug-of-war cable broke 3 times and had to be reconnected to continue the journey.
After about 6 hours, the logistics service ship successfully towed 2 fishing boats with engine failures to Phu Quy island safely. Currently, the fishing boats are anchored at the port to wait for repairs before continuing to go to sea.
