Floodwater from upstream continues to pour into Dong Thap Muoi area, Tay Ninh province, causing some summer-autumn rice areas preparing for harvest to face the risk of deep flooding. In Vinh Thanh commune, local authorities have mobilized forces to support people in harvesting rice in the context of rising floodwaters.
According to records, the flood water level in the Dong Thap Muoi area increased by an average of 2-3cm/day and night. By August 13, the water level at the Hong Ngu canal reached 1.3m, an increase of 3cm compared to the previous day. However, this water level is still 34cm lower than the same period in 2025.

In Go Ong Let hamlet, Vinh Thanh commune, 10ha of summer-autumn rice of Mr. Do Van Hieu's household was deeply flooded due to the impact of upstream floodwaters combined with heavy rain. The area of rice being prepared for harvest is facing the risk of reduced yield if not harvested in time.
Faced with this situation, on August 16, Vinh Thanh Commune People's Committee mobilized 50 officers and soldiers of the Police and Military and local forces to support Mr. Hieu's family in harvesting rice to escape the flood. Mr. Pham Thanh Hung - Vice Chairman of Vinh Thanh Commune People's Committee said that although this year the floodwater came late and lower than the same period, Go Ong Let hamlet area is a low-lying area, so it is still easily affected when heavy rain combines with floods.

Not only Vinh Thanh commune, the harvest progress of summer-autumn rice in localities in the province is also being accelerated. In Tan Hung commune, nearly 900ha have been harvested. More than 6,300ha remaining are currently in the 90-day age stage, growing well and expected to complete harvest before August 20.
Notably, although the cost of agricultural materials is high, stable yields and favorable selling prices help local farmers achieve a profit of about 10-20 million VND/ha. This year's summer-autumn crop in Tan Hung commune basically achieved the set target. The locality has also sown 60ha of autumn-winter crops, with rice plants aged 34-52 days.

Across the province, as of July 21, Tay Ninh had planted 575. 199ha of rice, of which the harvested area reached 309,372ha. The estimated output is more than 2.13 million tons, high-quality rice accounts for about 75%.
For the 2026 summer-autumn crop alone, the whole province planted 267.19ha, reaching 98.03% of the plan, an increase of 1.6% over the same period. Localities have harvested 28,235ha, with an output of about 205,275 tons. For the autumn-winter crop, the whole province has planted 26,943ha, mainly in high-lying communes, less affected by floods such as Hau Thanh, Nhon Hoa Lap, Nhon Ninh, Tan Thanh, Tan Hung, My Quy and Ben Cau.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province said that the work of monitoring and preventing pests and diseases is being regularly coordinated between specialized departments and localities. Diseases are mainly occurring at a mild level, not significantly affecting crop yields.
After harvesting, the agricultural sector recommends that farmers urgently clean up their fields, proactively open dykes to bring floodwater into the fields to receive natural alluvium. This is assessed to help improve the soil and eliminate remaining pathogens, creating conditions for subsequent production crops.
