On August 17, Nghe An Provincial Police said that at about 8:15 pm on August 14, during a patrol in the Ngu Loc block area, Vinh Loc ward, the patrol team of the Target Protection Police Team under the Mobile Police Department discovered a pangolin on a residential road.
Immediately after that, the patrol team took the pangolin to the unit for protection, care and notified functional agencies to coordinate handling. The pangolin weighed nearly 7kg, belonging to the group of endangered, precious, and rare animals.
On the morning of August 15, the Target Protection Police Team handed over the pangolin individual to Vinh Loc Ward People's Committee. After receiving it, the Ward People's Committee assigned the Ward Public Service Supply Center to transport the individual to Pu Mat National Park to continue rescue, care and monitoring.
Timely detection, protection and handover of pangolin individuals to specialized units contributes to wildlife protection and biodiversity conservation.
Functional agencies recommend that when wild animals, especially endangered, precious, and rare species, are detected, people should notify competent authorities; do not arbitrarily hunt, trade, transport or raise them illegally.
