Free health check-ups reach nearly 43%
According to a report from Vinh Long Department of Health, as of August 15, the whole province has conducted periodic health check-ups and free screenings for more than 1.44 million people, reaching nearly 43% of the population. This rate has increased sharply compared to the previous month, when it was only 15.6%.
The above results were achieved thanks to the Vinh Long health sector drastically implementing the "90 days and nights" campaign to conduct free health screening for the whole population, organizing medical examinations at the grassroots level and promoting health data updates on VNeID.
At An Hoi Ward Health Station, propaganda and mobilization of people to participate in examinations are implemented simultaneously with the arrangement of personnel to support updating information and integrating data into the Electronic Health Record.

Director of An Hoi Ward Health Station Nguyen Van Thanh said that the unit focuses on mobilizing people to participate, especially the elderly; and at the same time arranges personnel to guide and support information updates, ensuring data is conveniently integrated.
Mr. Tran Thanh Quang (72 years old, in Long Ho commune) said that being examined for free helps him clearly feel the concern of the health sector for people, especially the elderly. He is happy to have his health checked.
Being examined and health checked without spending money, I am very excited. Through that, I am also more reassured and know my health status to proactively monitor and treat when necessary," Mr. Quang shared.
Accelerate health check-ups, towards universal coverage
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Ho Thi Thu Hang - Director of Vinh Long Department of Health said that the health sector is continuing to urge units to accelerate health check-ups and screening and integrate data on VNeID. The goal is to complete health check-ups for 100% of people in 2026.
According to Ms. Hang, along with accelerating progress, medical facilities need to ensure the quality of examination, screening and accurate data updates. Electronic health management helps the health sector have a basis for monitoring, early detection of disease risks and proactive health care.
Along with health check-up activities, in August 2026, preventive medicine and disease control in the province continued to be maintained stably. The number of cases of hand, foot and mouth disease and measles both decreased compared to the previous month.

Dengue fever alone recorded 672 cases, an increase of 55.56% compared to the previous month. However, the outbreaks were all zoned, treated and controlled promptly, and no deaths were recorded.
In medical examination and treatment, medical facilities performed more than 735,800 visits, an increase of 5.75%; the rate of medical examination with health insurance cards is nearly 90%. The health sector also approved the policy of establishing the Reproductive Support Unit.
In September 2026, Director of the Department of Health Ho Thi Thu Hang requested units to urgently complete and submit to the Provincial People's Committee key projects and plans, including developing a satellite hospital network for the period 2026-2030 and improving grassroots health capacity.
The health sector is also developing a project to replicate family doctor clinics, a "Smart Healthcare" project, and an artificial kidney network for the period 2026-2028. The "90 Days and Nights" campaign continues to accelerate, aiming to examine and create electronic health records for 100% of people.
