According to Thanh Hoa Hydrometeorological Station, from May 25 to 28, the whole province will continue to be affected by intense heat, prolonged dry weather and no rain. The highest temperature is commonly from 36 - 38.5 degrees C, especially Tinh Gia station recorded a temperature of up to 39.8 degrees C. Relative humidity decreased, only from 40 - 50%, causing the risk of widespread forest fires to increase.
According to Thanh Hoa Forest Protection Department, during this time, the risk of forest fires of level IV - dangerous level is concentrated in many communes and wards, including: Kim Tan, Van Du, Ngoc Trao, Thach Binh, Thanh Vinh, Thach Quang, Bien Thuong, Xuan Du, Mau Lam, Nhu Thanh, Yen Tho, Xuan Thai, Thanh Ky, Trung Chinh, Tan Ninh, Ham Rong, Dong Son, Dong Tien, Hoang Tien, Hoang Phu, Hoang Giang, Sam Son, Ha Trung, Ha Long, Tong Son, Hoat Giang, Linh Toai, Trieu Loc, Dong Thanh, Hoa Loc, Van Loc, Tinh Gia, Dao Duy Tu, Ngoc Son, Tan Dan, Hai Linh, Hai Binh, Nghi Son, Cac Son, Truong Lam and Truc Lam.
In the context of hot and dry weather, the speed of fire spread in forest areas is likely to occur quickly, posing a very high risk of forest fires. The Forest Protection Department requests the Chairmen of People's Committees of communes and wards to direct functional forces to strengthen patrols and strict control of key areas; organize 12-hour duty/day (from 9am to 9pm), especially focusing on peak hours of the day.
Localities must strictly prohibit the act of treating forest planting soil, burning fields and all acts of using fire in the forest or along the forest. Local Forest Protection Departments need to regularly update weather conditions, promptly notify the level of forest fire risk to commune and village authorities, forest owners and residential communities.
For communes and wards with remaining forest area, the risk of forest fires of level III - high level is also warned. These are areas with dry weather, prone to widespread fires, so localities need to organize patrols and forest fire guards for 10 hours/day (from 10 am to 8 pm), focusing on key areas and planted forests.
When a forest fire occurs, the Chairman of the Commune or Ward People's Committee must mobilize forces and vehicles on the spot to participate in timely firefighting. If the fire exceeds control, the locality needs to coordinate with neighboring communes and wards and report to provincial functional agencies to mobilize forces and equipment to respond.
Thanh Hoa Forest Protection Department emphasized that forest fire prevention and fighting in peak hot days must be implemented proactively, not to be passive or surprised. People and relevant agencies and units need to raise awareness and closely coordinate with functional forces to minimize the risk of forest fires, protect the safety of the community and forest resources.
