On May 26, information from Thanh Hoa Provincial Police said that Thanh Hoa Railway Joint Stock Company has just coordinated with the Provincial Traffic Police Department and Thang Loi Commune People's Committee to organize fences to close 2 self-opened people's walkways at Km 192+995 and Km 193+625 on the North - South railway line.

These are walkways located in curved road areas, out of sight, posing a high risk of railway traffic accidents.
According to statistics, Thanh Hoa province currently has more than 103km of the North-South railway line passing through. As of January 2026, there are still 53 self-opened people's walkways on the entire line. In Thang Loi commune alone, there are 2 walkways that must be fenced to ensure train safety and safety for people.
Representatives of Thang Loi Commune People's Committee said that before deploying the fence, the locality had coordinated with the railway industry and functional forces to promote propaganda and mobilization to help people understand and agree with the policy of eliminating spontaneous railway crossings.
Local authorities also guide people to change their travel habits and use legal intersections to ensure safety.
According to Thanh Hoa Railway Joint Stock Company, although self-opened people's paths are convenient for travel, most do not ensure visibility, lack warning systems, and are especially dangerous at night or when the weather is bad.
From the beginning of 2026 to now, the unit has coordinated with localities to remove 6 self-opened walkways in communes and wards such as Quang Trung, Trieu Loc, Trung Chinh...
Currently, the entire route still has 47 locations that need to continue to be fenced off and removed. From now until the end of 2026, the railway industry will continue to coordinate with local authorities to strengthen propaganda and mobilize people to agree, striving to remove an additional 17 to 20 self-opened people's walkways in the province.
