On April 2, Nghe An Provincial Police announced that they had initiated a case and prosecuted Hoang Vu Lap (born in 1997, residing in Lang Giang Commune, Van Ban District, Lao Cai Province) for the act of property theft.
Previously, on March 20, Ms. Ha Thi H. (residing in Tan Thang commune, Quynh Luu district) reported losing 21 taels of gold in her closet. Determining that this was a theft with signs of familiarity, the investigation force quickly identified the suspect as Hoang Vu Lap - a person related to the victim.
On the night of March 20, the Nghe An Police working group immediately set out to arrest him. At dawn on March 21, in coordination with Lao Cai Provincial Police, Lap was arrested while hiding in a passenger bus in Tan Thuong Commune, Van Ban District. The authorities seized all the gold in the suspect's shirt bag.
At the investigation agency, Lap admitted to stealing many gold jewelry, with a total value of more than 212 million VND. Nghe An Provincial Police are continuing to investigate and handle according to the law.
