On December 24, being present at the scene, reporters recorded that urban beautification projects were being implemented on major roads in Vinh City, Nghe An Province.
Along key streets such as Lenin Avenue, Le Hong Phong Street, Nguyen Sy Sach Street... sidewalks, flower beds, median strips, decorations... are being renovated with many workers and machines operating.
Construction sites have barriers and signs to ensure safety for people and vehicles.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phong, Head of Vinh City Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that the project to renovate and upgrade Lenin Avenue, from Vinh Airport to the area around Ho Chi Minh Square, is invested by Vinh City People's Committee. The project will start in early 2024 with a total investment of over 560 billion VND, divided into 2 phases.
Phase 1 has an investment of over 205 billion VND, including the following items: renovating and upgrading the pavement structure, connecting the intersection, the traffic safety system of Le Nin and Truong Thi streets; renovating the curb, closing and opening the median strip...
Phase 2, with a total investment of over 355 billion VND, will build curbs, ditches, and stone sidewalks; lighting systems; rainwater and wastewater drainage systems; technical trench systems; underground medium-voltage and low-voltage power lines, etc.
Currently, the project is entering the peak construction phase to complete phase 1 before Tet. At this time, the road surface, cross-road culverts, median curbs, etc. have been basically completed. Construction units are implementing the sidewalk renovation and upgrade.
Currently, the project has reached about 90% of the workload in phase 1. In the past, unfavorable weather and heavy rain have also affected the construction of some items.
The unit has also issued a document urging and directing the contractor to increase machinery and workers to speed up progress, striving to complete phase 1 before Tet. At the same time, the investor has also submitted to the Nghe An Department of Construction for appraisal of the design documents, construction drawings, and cost estimates for phase 2, and is expected to start in early 2025.
In addition, the Le Hong Phong Street upgrade project has basically completed the expansion of the roadway, drainage system, dismantling of power cables, old power poles, planting of trees, etc. The section from Muong Thanh Hotel to Nguyen Van Cu Street has not been completed yet due to land clearance problems.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phong, Head of Vinh City Construction Investment Project Management Board said: "Currently, many roads in the city are undergoing construction to renovate drainage ditches and sidewalks. We have asked contractors to speed up the progress so that people can travel smoothly and ensure urban beauty."
