On September 26, the People's Committee of Kim Ngan commune (Quang Tri province) said that as of noon of the same day, 30 students of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities had to be hospitalized after breakfast at school with symptoms of abdominal pain and vomiting.
According to the People's Committee of Kim Ngan commune, at around 8:00 a.m. the same day, many students showed symptoms of abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea... after eating banh tay for breakfast. The local government has coordinated with the health sector to organize screening examinations at the school, and at the same time took students with unusual symptoms to medical facilities for timely treatment.
Talking to reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of Le Thuy Regional General Hospital confirmed that the students were hospitalized this morning with symptoms of suspected food poisoning. Their health is currently being monitored and actively treated.
The authorities are sealing the related food samples and transferring them for testing to investigate and clarify the cause of the incident.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that 25 students were initially suspected of being poisoned after a meal at school and had to be hospitalized. Up to now, 5 more students have been hospitalized, bringing the total to 30 students.
