Another district in Ho Chi Minh City proposes to merge wards

HCMC - Phu Nhuan District (HCMC) proposed a plan to reduce administrative units from 11 wards to 2 wards.

The People's Committee of Phu Nhuan District has just submitted a document to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Home Affairs proposing a plan to rearrange and reorganize ward-level administrative units (ADUs) in the district.

Currently, Phu Nhuan district has a total of 11 ward-level administrative units and according to the proposed arrangement plan, it will be adjusted down to 2 wards.

Duc Nhuan Ward will include part of Ward 2 along with Wards 4, 5, 7 and 9. After the arrangement, the total area of Duc Nhuan ward will be 2.6553 km2, with a population of about 98,532 people.

Phu Nhuan Ward was established on the basis of merging all wards 1, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15 and part of ward 2. The total area of this ward is 2.2086 km2, with an estimated population of about 106,438 people.

At the end of 2024, Phu Nhuan district has reorganized 4 wards according to Resolution 1278 of the National Assembly Standing Committee. The merged wards include: merging Wards 3 and 4 into Ward 4, merging Wards 15 and 17 into Ward 15.

In addition to Phu Nhuan District, Binh Thanh District People's Committee has just submitted a document to Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Home Affairs on a plan to reorganize administrative units in the district.

Accordingly, to reorganize and streamline the apparatus, Binh Thanh District proposed a plan to reduce from 15 wards to 4 wards, and name the new wards as Gia Dinh, Binh Hoa, Thanh My Tay, Binh Quoi.

The Standing Committee of the Go Vap District Party Committee has also submitted a document to the Go Vap District Party Committee Executive Committee on the plan to arrange 12 wards in this district into basic administrative units (according to the two-level government model) according to Conclusion 127 of the Politburo and the Secretariat.

The proposal proposes a plan to reorganize 12 wards (currently commune-level administrative units) of Go Vap district into 3 new grassroots-level administrative units on the basis of merging the wards together and named Go Vap, Thong Tay Hoi, An Nhon.
