On the morning of March 25, at the T78 Guest House Hall (District 3), a scientific workshop on "HCMC's achievements in 50 years of construction, protection and development" took place, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). The workshop was organized by the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
The workshop was attended by Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi; Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Nguyen Thi Le; Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc; Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Phuoc Loc and former leaders, units, unions, and experts in many other fields.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi, looking back 50 years ago, on April 30, 1975, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Party Committee and people of Saigon - Cho Lon - Gia Dinh together with the army and people of the whole country created the Great Spring Victory, liberated the South, and unified the country.
Joining the country's construction, since April 30, 1975, Ho Chi Minh City has continuously strived to overcome difficulties to stabilize and develop, being a major center of economy, finance, trade, culture, science - technology, innovation, education - training of the key economic region in the South and the whole country.
As an important gateway connecting with the region and the world, making an important contribution to the overall achievements of the country, affirming the especially important position and role of Ho Chi Minh City in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi also highlighted the achievements that Ho Chi Minh City has achieved over the past 50 years, and affirmed the importance of looking back on the past journey to draw lessons, thereby proposing directions and development solutions for the future.
At the workshop, delegates focused on discussing 5 main groups of issues:
Promote the value and historical significance of the Great Springfield of 1975 in the construction and development of Ho Chi Minh City.
Evaluate the innovation and development achievements of Ho Chi Minh City over the past 50 years in various fields.
Building national defense, ensuring security and order, enhancing foreign affairs activities and international cooperation.
Building the Party Committee and political system of Ho Chi Minh City to be clean and strong.
Discuss the shortcomings, limitations and breakthrough solutions for the development of Ho Chi Minh City in the coming time.
The organizing committee received more than 100 presentations and many registrations to speak at the workshop.
The workshop is also an opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City to listen to enthusiastic and practical contributions from experts and scientists, aiming to enrich the courage, knowledge and practical capacity in the process of leadership and direction of the Party Committee and management and operation of the city government.
