On the morning of September 18, the search for a male student of the University of Mining and Geology suspected of being swept away by water at the flooded point of Vien street (Dong Ngac ward, Hanoi) is still being implemented.

At 8:50 am, 2 divers arrived at the scene, then dived into the water drain to search and rescue.
After about 10 minutes without results, the divers continued to open the manhole cover a few meters away to continue performing the task.
At the scene, the water had receded a lot compared to yesterday. Many people were present to watch the search and rescue work.
Mr. Luu Quyet Thang, a 2nd year student at the University of Mining and Geology, said that yesterday he received information that a classmate was suspected of being swept away by water at a deep flooding point near the school.
At that time, Mr. Thang was not clear about the situation, not knowing if it was a male or female friend. In the evening, information about this student's disappearance began to appear, the family and functional forces were searching, so this morning, he came to the scene to monitor the incident.
Also present at the scene, Ms. Vu Thi Nhung - a student at the University of Mining and Geology said that this area is often flooded every time heavy rain lasts.
During floods, Ms. Nhung will choose to take another route, ask for permission from online teachers or ask for a day off that day to avoid dangerous incidents.
This is a road that students and people pass through on a regular basis, but moving every time it is flooded is very dangerous because there are some unsafe manholes. I hope functional agencies will soon resolve this situation completely" - Ms. Nhung said.
