On the afternoon of April 24, Mr. Ha Duc The - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghia Thanh Commune (Nghia Dan District, Nghe An Province) said that through initial inspection in the area of Len Chua Cave, there were 11 skulls and many bones with broken pottery shells... Currently, the authorities are continuing to dig and inspect in this area to find the skull and bones.
The Len Chua Cave area is located in the middle of a wild, remote mountains with few people passing by. After the information was spread, many curious people came to see it, forcing the authorities to block off and strictly protect the scene to serve the investigation and preservation work.
On the same day, the leader of Nghia Dan District People's Committee confirmed that the functional forces of Nghe An Provincial Police and the Provincial Military Command are investigating and clarifying the discovery of many skeletons suspected to be human in Len Chua rock cave, in Nghia Thanh commune.
Previously, at around 1:30 p.m. on April 23, local people suddenly discovered two skeletons lying at the entrance of the cave and immediately reported it to the authorities. Upon receiving the information, Nghia Thanh Commune Police and related forces quickly arrived to inspect the scene.
Through a preliminary examination, the authorities discovered two skulls and some pieces of bone lying near the cave entrance. In particular, when they went deeper inside, they continued to discover many other body parts, all of which were completely decomposed, with only bones left.
Notably, besides the skeletons suspected to be human, there are many snail shells and broken ceramic pieces at the site artifacts that may have archaeological significance.
An official from the Nghe An Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that based on the landscape of the grotto, geological features as well as the discovered artifacts, it can be initially determined that this was once a place of residence or burial of the ancient Vietnamese people. Len Chua stone cave is likely to be related to the daily life and spiritual life of residents in prehistoric or early history.
The case is still being further verified by the authorities, collecting samples and assessing the archaeological value to have a suitable handling direction. Local authorities recommend that people do not gather in the cave area to ensure safety and avoid disrupting the scene.
