At noon on May 12, the Department of Home Affairs of Da Nang City informed that the wall collapse at a coffee shop on Le Loi street (Hai Chau ward, Da Nang) was a labor accident. The deceased victim was a worker digging and drilling the sidewalk in the construction area.
According to reports, the accident occurred at about 7:20 pm on May 11, on the sidewalk in front of house number 121-123 Le Loi street, Hai Chau ward, Da Nang city (L. coffee shop). This is the sidewalk construction area belonging to the project of renovating the drainage system and undergrounding information cables and lighting on some inner city roads of the city.


The victim was identified as Mr. N.D. Nh, born in 1983, residing in Dong Duong commune, Da Nang city, working as a worker. At the time of the accident, Mr. Nh was digging into the sidewalk in front of house number 121-123 Le Loi street. Suddenly, a wall of this house number, where there was a coffee shop, collapsed, crushing him, causing the victim to die on the spot after the incident.
According to the Da Nang Department of Home Affairs, the basis for the labor accident was Hanoi Waterway Construction Joint Stock Company, located at No. 43, alley 26, Huy Du street, Tu Liem ward, Hanoi city; the field of operation is other specialized construction.
Previously, as Lao Dong newspaper reported, on the evening of May 11, at the Le Loi - Quang Trung intersection area, Hai Chau ward, a wall collapse occurred during construction to expand and install a drainage system. Functional forces and local authorities were present at the scene to overcome the incident, blockade the area and investigate the cause of the accident.
The accident project belongs to the Investment Project to renovate 4 roads in the center of Da Nang city (including Phan Chau Trinh, Le Loi, Hoang Dieu and Ong Ich Khiem), invested by the Da Nang Priority Infrastructure Investment Project Management Board.
The total length of the project is nearly 7km, with an investment cost of nearly 282 billion VND, from local budget capital. The project started in March 2025, and is expected to be completed in early 2026.
