On the morning of September 11, the water flow dropped to 3,180m3/s, down more than 1,000m3/s compared to yesterday afternoon. The current water level of the lake is 59.84m, the total flow through the project is 3,201m3/s.
Previously, Yen Bai province had evacuated 3,186 people with 11,279 people from 24 villages and hamlets: Vinh Kien, Yen Binh, Han Da, Dai Minh, Thac Ba town (Yen Binh district) to ensure safety for people when Thac Ba hydropower plant released flood water.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper at 10:30 a.m. on September 11, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Deputy General Director of Thac Ba Hydropower Company, affirmed: "The signal is very positive, the water level in Thac Ba Lake is not expected to increase further. Up to this point, the hydropower reservoir has opened 3 floodgates. The project is still safe, no problem."
Yesterday afternoon, September 10, the working group of the Ministry of Industry and Trade also directly inspected Thac Ba Hydropower Reservoir.
Mr. Trinh Van Thuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Industrial Safety and Environment, said that at 3:00 p.m. on September 10, the delegation inspected the main dam and 8 auxiliary dams. Visual inspection of the dam showed no abnormalities.
The working group of the Ministry of Industry and Trade requested that Thac Ba Hydropower Company mobilize maximum resources and equipment to provide warning information and notify local authorities and people in the downstream area as soon as possible before discharging flood water according to procedures and operating orders of competent authorities, especially in emergency flood discharge situations.
