At around 4:00 p.m. on September 8, mud and mud issued from the drainage system in lane 7 Giang Van Minh (Giang Vo ward, Hanoi). After 30 minutes, the mud spread quickly over a wide area, causing local traffic congestion.
People in the area quickly notified the local authorities and related units.
As soon as the information was received, the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board (MRB) promptly mobilized officers and employees, coordinated with the project's tunnel construction contractor to urgently arrive at the site to isolate the area to avoid mud spreading to other areas; at the same time, mobilized large-capacity pumps and mud suction trucks to the site for handling and cleaning.
A fence has also been erected to ensure the safety of the people and limit the spread of mud.

MrB representative said that this is the second time since the construction of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro line, the TBM tunnel borer has come to the above location, when encountering weak soil bags or underground water conduits, or old wells, old drainage culverts are no longer in use... creating a path for mud mixture to flow onto the ground.
Previously, in December 2023, at this location, mud had broken out, and was quickly resolved by the investor and project contractors. At that time, MRB Hanoi also committed to strengthening technical measures, geological monitoring and coordinating with local authorities to ensure safety.
The Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro line has a total length of 12.5 km, of which 8.5 km is elevated and 4 km is underground. During the implementation of the underground section through the central area, the project encountered a number of problems related to geology and engineering.
