At noon on January 24, the Fire and Rescue Police Department of Quang Tri Provincial Police confirmed that they are organizing a search for a suspected drowning victim in Lao Bao commune.
Previously, on the afternoon of January 23, the Fire and Rescue Police Department of Quang Tri Provincial Police received a report that child T.H.Q (born in 2014, residing in Lao Bao commune) drowned in the Se Pon River, passing through Duy Tan village (Lao Bao commune).
Immediately after receiving the information, the unit dispatched 2 fire trucks and 15 officers and soldiers to the scene to scout, grasp the situation, assess the incident and deploy a search formation.
Functional forces used trawl nets to search areas suspected of having victims.
By 9 pm on the same day, due to darkness, strong currents and complex terrain, the search work had not yielded results. The unit's leaders decided to temporarily suspend rescue and relief operations.
On the morning of January 24, this unit continued to mobilize forces and vehicles to organize the search for victims, with the hope of getting results soon.
