On August 7, leaders of Quynh Phu Commune People's Committee said that early in the morning of the same day, people discovered an ancient pair of stone nghê of La Van temple left on the roadside by the field about 300m from the relic.
According to the Management Board of Relics of La Van communal house, temple, pagoda, and Cang Pagoda; during the restoration and renovation of the relic, a pair of ancient stone nghê placed in front of the communal house gate was dug up and temporarily placed at the base of the banyan tree in the communal house yard to facilitate construction.
On the night of August 4, taking advantage of heavy rain, some subjects broke into the relic area and took away the pair of stone nghê. On the morning of August 5, the Relic Management Board discovered the incident and reported it to the local authorities to organize a search.
Mr. Vu Khac Leo - Helper for the Relic Management Board - said that according to the elders in the village, the ancient pair of stone nghê (also known as pair vo) is more than 400 years old. After discovering that thieves returned this pair of stone nghê, the Management Board moved them to the relic and brought them inside for preservation and storage.
Currently, functional agencies are verifying the incident, clarifying the cause of the pair of stone nghê being taken away and left in the field.
