Quang Tri - Search forces continue to repatriate one more martyr's remains in the Bai Dinh area.

On September 8, Team No. 1 for Searching and Repatriating Martyrs' Remains, Political Department, Quang Tri Provincial Military Command continued to survey, search and repatriate a martyr's remains in the Bai Dinh area.

From collected information sources and the field survey process, the search force discovered unusual signs in an area of land subsidence about 30cm deep.

This area is currently a melaleuca forest of people, located on the foundation of an old cemetery. According to information collected by functional forces, this is where soldiers used to bring martyrs who participated in combat and sacrificed in Laos for burial.

From the above signs, officers and staff of Team No. 1 for Searching and Repatriating Martyrs' Remains continued to stick to the area, carefully survey the area and expand the search scope.

The force organized excavation and stripping of each layer of soil at a location about 3m away from the grave discovered on September 7. This location is located in the same row of graves along the North-South axis.

After many hours of searching, at a depth of about 1.5m, the gathering force discovered a set of tanks still intact. On the set of tanks, there were still 3 intact white strings, not cut, not opened, tied at the head, body and leg positions.

When exhumed, the remains inside the tank were completely decomposed, turning into black soil.

Through inspection, the repatriation force determined that the remains were still in their original location and had not been excavated before. Inside the tank, the search force also discovered 6 buttons on the soldiers' clothes.

Based on the location, characteristics of the grave and the artifacts discovered, functional forces determined that this was a martyr's grave.

To date, the identity and hometown of the martyr have not been determined.

Immediately after exhumation, officers and soldiers of the unit organized the preservation of remains and artifacts to continue serving research, comparison and information verification.

The search force also carried out care and incense offering according to customs and regulations while waiting for the martyr's identity to be determined.

Thus, from the beginning of September to now, this area has been found by functional forces with 4 sets of remains of martyrs.
