Recently, the impact of storms and floods caused a serious landslide at the Lao Cai - Sa Pa BOT toll station, burying a large section of road, causing traffic disruption.
On July 25, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, nearly a month has passed, and this area has not been able to be repaired yet. The reason is that people have not agreed to relocate and request compensation for the landslide.

Therefore, vehicles cannot currently move on Provincial Road 155 through Mong Sen Bridge as before, because this area has been closed to ensure safety.
According to research, while waiting for a solution, people and tourists who want to go to Sa Pa, Lai Chau and vice versa will have to travel along National Highway 4D. This is a parallel road with Provincial Road 155, where the Lao Cai - Sa Pa BOT station is located above.
In reality, National Highway 4D is currently the only toll station bypass route leading to Sa Pa tourist area. Because Provincial Road 155 above was buried by rocks and soil, vehicles could not circulate but all rushed here.

Mr. Bui Thanh Nam (driver on the Hanoi - Sa Pa route) shared: "When the toll station area could not be repaired for landslides, we still had to travel on National Highway 4D below. This will extend the distance to Sa Pa, taking time due to the larger distance, and having to overcome many dangerous curves. Therefore, we also hope that units will soon clear the landslides to reopen the route".
Mr. Nguyen Quang Luu, Deputy General Director of Lao Cai - Sa Pa BOT Investment Joint Stock Company, said: "The anti-slip embankment project was eroded with rocks and soil on Provincial Road 155, in the toll station area under the Lao Cai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board is the investor, not ours. They also cleared the land but the people did not agree because they had not compensated for the landslides."
According to Mr. Luu, Lao Cai - Sa Pa BOT Investment Joint Stock Company is an exploitation unit that suffered a lot of damage, many equipment and machinery in the upstream direction were completely damaged.

"The summer months are often the peak period when the number of vehicles coming to Sa Pa is very large, each day our station collects about 100 million VND. The 2-month suspension of operations while waiting for a solution caused the company to lose about 6 billion VND," explained the Deputy General Director of Lao Cai - Sa Pa BOT Investment Joint Stock Company.
Regarding the solution, in early July, the People's Committee of Ta Phin commune chaired a meeting with the participation of the following units: Lao Cai Provincial Police, Department of Construction, Lao Cai - Sa Pa BOT Investment Joint Stock Company, Road Maintenance Management Board and Lao Cai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
After the discussion, the parties agreed to report to Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee on the site clearance plan. When the land problem is resolved, the unit will deploy a plan to fix the landslide site.

Regarding the storm situation, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee has just announced a natural disaster emergency at the landslide site of Sa Pa BOT toll station due to the impact of heavy rains.
The People's Committee of Lao Cai province requests agencies, units, and project enterprises to carry out disaster recovery activities according to regulations according to their assigned functions, tasks, and obligations under the project contract.
Along with that, continue to closely monitor the cracks on the positive slope, especially the risk of landslides burying and destroying the structure of the toll station and National Highway 4D.
